A Week in Pinning

Happy Weekend everyone!  Today I will be sharing my pins for the week.
These are just a few among the many I pinned.  I was inspired by Autumn!
Hope they inspire you for Fall decorating later in the month.

Christmas Home 2014

Christmas 2014
Welcome to my Christmas Home tour.  As you view the images you will notice that I
have kept it pretty simple around here.
It has been dark and gloomy around these parts and it'll be that way until Christmas, so I was
not able to capture as much as I would have liked to share with you, but at least I was able
to get these photos.
I have been baking lots of cookies this year to share with friends & family, so when
you walk in our home, the fragrance of fresh baked chocolate chips cookies is what you are
met with.  Upon entering the home you will also encounter our Advent Wreath on our dining
table.  As you look into the living room, the first thing you will notice is the Christmas tree.
I used what I had on hand for the tree decorations and my previous handmade ornaments.

Below is this year's Jesse Tree.  I found some cool Jesse tree ornaments online, so I didn't
have to make my own as I did last year.  My son loves these.

I used my pom pom garland from last year, but I added more pom poms and made the
cord thicker to decorate the mantel.  I love it!  The stockings are also handmade and you can find the
tutorial here.  For more tutorials on items featured here, visit the Project Gallery.

Christmas Home 2013

I have been trying to make our home look a little festive this year since my focus has been on other things.  I am sharing my living room & dining room space with you today which is pretty much what I have decorated around the house.

I used decor from years past, handmade and purchased ornaments are combined in this year's Christmas decoration.

We did not put up an Advent calendar, but instead, a Jesse Tree.  Are you familiar with the Jesse tree?  It is fun and educational for both children and adults.  The Tree of Jesse is a depiction in art of the ancestors of Christ.  My son loves it and looks forward to each day's scripture reading and devotion.  I made my own Jesse tree ornaments by printing out the symbols for each day's reading. We cut the paper out and added ornament hooks to hang on the little tree I got last year.

Depictions of the Jesse Tree are based on a passage from the Book of Isaiah.

"A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots."

On my last post I showed you how I made my pom pom garland.  I used the garland to decorate the mantel, I added reindeer ornaments instead of regular ball ornaments for a different look and I like how it turned out.  You can basically add whatever you like to the pom pom garland for extra flare.  I placed the book page trees from last year on the mantel and added the stockings that I made last year as well.  You can find the tutorial for the stockings on this post.

Further down, I added a photo of the living room during the decorating process, the tree does not have a garland yet and my mantel was somewhat bare at the time.

For the dining room, I added a wreath with a layer of berries and a red vase that serves as a hurricane candle holder as the center piece.  To each side I added a gold wire reindeer and red candles.  Off to the side, I also placed my advent candles, but did not photograph it this year.

New Roof

roof_repair_2
Hello friends.  Hope that you are having a wonderful day today.  I have taken this
opportunity to tell you a bit about my roof replacement experience.  We replaced our
roof back in September, do you remember that?  It was this post with the yummy
White Hot Chocolate drink.  You must be wondering why I'm even writing about this,
but I've had a few people ask me about it and were wondering
how things were going with the new roof.

Let me just write that I am glad it is over and done with.  The noise, the mess and
the smell, yes people, the smell, was not pleasing at all.  If I may put it bluntly,
it was awful on the outside, I don't ever want to do it again.  But I have to admit,
after all was said and done, it was worth it.  We now have a fabulous new roof,
way better than the original and up to now, have had no problems.
Hope it stays that way for a long time.
The reason we had our roof replaced was because we had
damage from several hail storms and finally had a leak in our bedroom and
our son's room as well.  So the contractor came and gave us a new roof top, huraay!

Christmas Home 2012- Simple

DSC00727
Welcome to our Christmas home.
It’s all about enjoying our surroundings during this time of year.
My son and I are fighting the flu and it seems as if Mr.M may catch it as well,
so there’s a lot of coughing, sniffles,...
We just want to cozy up by the fireplace, drink our liquids and rest.
I kept my décor very simple this year, a tree and little reminders here and there.
Here is a collection of photos.
